Biography

In 2007, William became the youngest City Council member in Bethlehem’s history following his successful challenge to a slate of incumbent Council members. Following three terms on City Council including serving for four years as Council President, William captured nearly 65 percent of the vote in 2021 while sweeping all 37 wards in becoming Bethlehem’s 14th Mayor. William was re-elected in 2025 following a repeat sweep of every ward in the city.

During his City Council and Mayoral tenure, William focused on economic revitalization, neighborhood investment, and climate action. Mayor Reynolds and his energetic team have also been actively implementing initiatives around sustainability, affordable housing, and addressing homelessness. Bethlehem is seeing unprecedented levels of private investment, job creation numbers unrivaled in post-industrial communities, and record demand to live in the city. Bethlehem’s evolving identity as a multicultural, economically flourishing, and vibrant place to be continues to help place the city on several “Best Places to Live in America” lists.

During his second term, Bethlehem will focus on
  • Implementing the City’s “Opening Doors” plan by working to increase housing attainability and affordability within Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley
  • Implementing Bethlehem’s “40 in 10” Parks and Recreation Master Plan
  • Building a South Bethlehem Community Center
  • Making streets safer by executing major roadway improvements and implementing a Complete Streets and bike infrastructure strategy
  • Continuing to implement and execute Bethlehem’s Climate Action Plan
  • Continuing to build cooperative strategies with the Bethlehem Area School District
Mayor Reynolds is a graduate of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and serves as the current President of the Pennsylvania Municipal League.  He also currently serves as chair of the Bethlehem World Heritage Council and has served previously on Moravian University’s Board of Trustees and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s Transition Team. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Moravian University with a major in Political Science and a minor in History.

He resides in north Bethlehem with his wife Dr. Natalie Bieber and son Leo.
