Taxes for Residents

 
Earned Income Tax

Residents with earned income, wages or net profits must file an Earned Income Tax Return on or before April 15, 2024.  The City of Bethlehem contracts with Keystone Collections Group for collection for Local Earned Income Tax.  For more details on Earned Income Tax click this LINK.

Local Services Tax

The City of Bethlehem collects Local Services Tax from each person employed or self-employed within the City of Bethlehem.  Keystone Collections Group is the contracted administrator of Local Services Tax for the City of Bethlehem.  If you are self-employed, an employer does not collect this tax for you or you work for  more than one employer, Click for more information.

Real Estate/Property Tax

Taxes for Businesses

 
Amusement Tax

The City of Bethlehem imposes an amusement tax on all events with a capacity of 200 or more attendees which charge more than $10.00 per ticket/admission.  In addition amusement event holders must obtain a permit to hold events.  More information on the Amusement Tax is available HERE.

Business Privilege & Mercantile Tax

All individuals or entities doing business in the City of Bethlehem are required to pay the City of Bethlehem's Business & Mercantile tax on their gross receipts for business conducted in the City of Bethlehem.  In addition to the tax on gross receipts, an annual Business Privilege License is required.   The City of Bethlehem uses Tri-State Financial Group for administration of both collection of Business Privilege and & Mercantile Taxes and Business Privilege Licensing.  More information on Licensing and gross receipts tax can be found HERE.

Earned Income Tax Withholding

Pennsylvania employers are required to withhold the greater rate of their employees earned income tax residence or work location.  Withholding of Earned Income Tax (EIT) is mandatory per Pennsylvania Law Act 32.  The City of Bethlehem contracts with Keystone Collection Group for collection of withheld Earned Income Taxes.  CLICK for more information on EIT withholding.

Local Services Tax

Property Tax and Utility Certifications

The City of Bethlehem will provide outstanding real estate property tax  and/or Water & Sewer utility balance certification(s) for a fee.  Outstanding balance requests must be submitted in writing and will be returned via email.  Follow this LINK for more details on how to request a Tax/Utility certification.
