The Bethlehem Health Bureau conducts a community health needs assessment every three years in order to identify key health issues impacting Bethlehem. The Public Health Accreditation board defines community health assessment as a systematic examination of the health status indication for a given population that is used to identify key problems and assets in a community. The ultimate goal of a community health assessment is to develop strategies to address the community’s health needs and identified issues.

The Health bureau’s strategic plan outlines initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes, creating more efficient organization, and providing effective public health programming.
