The City Solicitor is responsible for the direction and control of the City’s legal matters. The Office of the City Solicitor, also referred to as the Law Bureau, has one full time and two part time solicitors. The Bureau provides advice to the Mayor and the City's departments and bureaus, it prepares legal documents and contracts, it drafts ordinances proposed by the Administration and it provides legal representation for the City in litigation matters. The Law Bureau also serves as the agency designated to answer requests submitted under Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law.
