Unlocking the Power of Community Voices: The City of Bethlehem Invites Residents to Shape the Future of New Community Center

 
BETHLEHEM, PA - [February 14, 2024] In a celebration of unity and collaboration, the City of Bethlehem invites all community members to help envision a new Southside community center. This groundbreaking initiative aims to harness the creative spirit and collective wisdom of the residents, marking a pivotal moment in the city's growth and development.
 
With the consulting assistance of AOS Architects, MASS Design Group, Taggart Associates, and Ideas & Action, the City of Bethlehem is embarking upon a feasibility study of sites and ideas for a new South Bethlehem community center.
 

PART 1: A Community Anthem: Your Voice, Our Song

 
As a prelude to an upcoming town hall event on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Bethlehem is launching the "Community Anthem Project." This innovative endeavor encourages residents to submit their ideas, aspirations, and visions for the new community center in the form of short video tributes. They should only take a minute or two. These heartfelt contributions will be woven together to create a powerful "Community Anthem" that resonates with the diverse voices and aspirations of the community.
 
How to Participate and Share Your Vision
 

1. Create a Short Video: Craft a brief video expressing your thoughts, dreams, and ideas for the new community center. Whether it's a personal reflection, a shared story, or a creative vision, every contribution is valued.

 

2. Submit Your Video Tribute: Share your video tribute by Sunday March 17th through the dedicated online platform Tribute. The process is simple, you may use your own device and step-by-step instructions are available to guide you through the submission. (For best results, record a video in landscape/horizontal orientation). If you don't have access to the internet or a device, we invite you to find a tablet kiosk at the Bethlehem Area Public Library Main Branch, 11 W. Church St., and the Southside Branch, 400 Webster St., and the lobby of NCC's Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St..

 

3. Join the Community Caucus: Please save the Date for an interactive town hall event to discuss different sites and gather insights from your life and experience. On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., at the Northampton Community College Fowler Family Southside Center, located at 511 E. Third Street. Child care and Spanish language interpretation will be provided. The "Community Anthem" video will be unveiled at the end of the feasibility project (in late Spring 2024), to guide the future design and development of the community center.

La ciudad de Bethlehem se complace en extender una cordial invitación a todos sus residentes para que participen activamente en la creación de su nuevo centro comunitario ubicado en el Southside de Bethlehem. Esta iniciativa innovadora tiene como propósito celebrar la unidad y la colaboración comunitaria. Aprovecharemos el espíritu creativo y el conocimiento colectivo de todos nuestros residentes. Juntos marcaremos un momento histórico en el crecimiento y desarrollo de nuestra ciudad.
 
Esta es una gran encomienda que tomamos muy en serio. Es por esto que la ciudad de Bethlehem con la asistencia de las firmas de consultoría de AOS Architects, MASS Design Group, Taggart Associates y Ideas & Action estamos desarrollando un estudio de viabilidad que determine posibles localizaciones e ideas para el nuevo centro comunitario en el Southside de Bethlehem.
 
 

Parte 1: Un Himno Comunitario: Tu Voz, Nuestra Canción

 
Como preámbulo al próximo evento municipal del 13 de marzo de 2023, Bethlehem está lanzando el proyecto “Himno Comunitario". Esta iniciativa innovadora alienta a los residentes a compartir sus ideas, aspiraciones y visiones para el desarrollo del nuevo centro comunitario en forma de breves videos tributos. Los videos solo deberían de tomar uno o dos minutos. Estas contribuciones formarán parte de un poderoso "Himno comunitario" que resonará uniendo las distintas voces y aspiraciones de la comunidad.
 
Cómo participar y compartir tu visión
 

1. Haz un video corto: graba un video breve que exprese tus pensamientos, sueños e ideas para el nuevo centro comunitario. Puede ser una reflexión personal, una historia o una visión creativa, toda contribución es valiosa.]

2. [Envíe su video tributo: comparta su video antes del domingo 17 de marzo a través de la siguiente plataforma en línea: Tribute. El proceso es simple, puede usar su propio dispositivo móvil y seguir las instrucciones paso a paso disponibles en la web que le servirán de guía para el envío del video. (Para obtener mejores resultados, grabe el vídeo en formato horizontal). Si no tiene acceso a Internet o a un dispositivo que permita la grabación del video, le invitamos a pasar por el kiosko de tabletas electrónicas disponible en una de estas tres ubicaciones: la biblioteca principal de Bethlehem (Bethlehem Area Public Library Main Library, 11 W. Church St.), la biblioteca en Southside Bethlehem (Southside Branch, 400 Webster St. ), o en el vestibulo principal del Centro para Familias ubicado en el Campus Fowler de Northampton Community College (NCC Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St.)
3. [Únase a la reunión del comité comunitario: reserve la fecha para asistir a un evento comunitario interactivo donde hablaremos acerca de las posibles localizaciones del centro comunitario y del procedimiento para compartir sus ideas, experiencias y lecciones aprendidas en su vida.
