ServSafe

As per Chapter 46, Section 1201 entitled “PA Food Code – Food Employee Certification Act compliance”, every food facility must have “at least one employee who holds a valid [Food Protection Manager] certificate present at the retail food facility or immediately accessible at all hours of operation and who is the person in charge of the retail food facility when physically present…”.  In an effort to assist the City of Bethlehem food facilities and vendors who operate at one of the many festivals occurring in the City, the City of Bethlehem Health Bureau holds three (3) Food Protection Manager courses throughout the year.  The courses are normally scheduled in the early Spring, and then at the end of the year to coincide with facility license renewals.  The 8 hour course is taught by a Health Inspector, and covers all of the topics necessary to successfully complete the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Exam, which is given at the end of the course.

For those individuals who are unable to take the 8 hour course, the Health Bureau suggests taking the on-line version of the course which can be purchased by clicking here.  After successful completion of the course and course completion assessment, a member of the Health Bureau staff will proctor the certification exam free of charge (participant must pre-purchase the exam voucher).

For information on either of the above options, please contact the Bethlehem Health Bureau at 610-865-7083, or via email at BHB_Ask@bethlehem-pa.gov
