Earl E. Schaffer Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink

The Earl E. Schaffer Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink , the Lehigh Valley's only outdoor Olympic sized rink, is located at 345 Illick's Mill Road and is open from November through March, weather permitting. We offer private rink rental, skating lessons, stick time, and public skate sessions, which includes an adaptive skate session for those with special needs. Season passes are also available and include admission to public and adaptive skate sessions, as well as stick time. Note: The rink will be closed on Saturday, February 5th for the annual Special Hockey of the Lehigh Valley Winter Classic event.
 

Rink Rental
(Scheduled to begin on Monday, October 25th)

The rink is available for rent for both hockey and recreational skate sessions. The cost is $320 per hour. If you are  interested in renting the rink, please contact us  for more information. 

Skating Lessons
(Scheduled to begin on Saturday, November 27th)

Group skating lessons for ages 3 & over will be offered at the rink for all ability levels. Our instructors provide a fun and safe environment while teaching the lifelong skill of skating. Click here for more information and to register for lessons.
 

Public Skate Sessions  
(Scheduled to begin on Friday, November 12th)

Hours:
Tuesday- 3-5pm 
Thursday- 3-5pm
Friday- 7:30-9:30pm 
Saturday- 1-3pm; 7:30-9:30pm
Sunday- 1-3pm

Youth (17 and under)/Seniors (62 and older)- $7.00
Adults (18-61)- $8.00
Skate Rental- $3.00 (tax included)

Adaptive Skate
(Scheduled to begin on Thursday, November 18th)

We welcome all who have adaptive needs to come skate in a safe and low sensory environment.

Day/Time: Thursday, 5:15 - 6:15 pm

Fees:
Youth (17 and under)/Seniors (62 and older)- $7.00
Adults (18-61)- $8.00
Skate Rental- $3.00 (tax included)

Stick Time 
(Scheduled to begin on Tuesday November 16th)

Practice shooting, skating with a stick and puck, practice hockey drills, etc. on our Olympic sized rink. Full equipment is required and no contact is allowed.

Day/Time- Tuesday, 6-7pm
Fee- $10 per person 

Skate Sharpening

Cost- $6.00 (tax included)

Note: Walk in skate sharpening is available during public skate and stick time sessions ONLY (See hours above).  Appointments can be made outside of designated hours by contacting the recreation office.
