***CLOSED FOR THE SEASON***
The Earl E. Schaffer Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink , the Lehigh Valley's only outdoor Olympic sized rink, is located at 345 Illick's Mill Road and is open from mid October through mid March, weather permitting. We offer private rink rental beginning on October 19, 2026. Skating lessons, stick time and public skate sessions start in November. Season passes are also available and include admission to public and adaptive skate sessions ONLY.
Public Skate
Session Times*:
- Sunday: 1-3pm
- Monday: 1-3pm
- Tuesday: 2:30-4:30pm
- Wednesday: 1-3pm
- Thursday: 2:30-4:30pm
- Friday: 7-9pm
- Saturday: 1-3pm; 7-9pm

Adaptive Skate
We welcome all who have adaptive needs to come skate in a safe and low sensory environment.
Contact us to find out available times which are by appointment only.

Season Passes
Season passes will go on sale Monday, October 5th and can be purchased online, over the phone by contacting the recreation office, or in person at the recreation office Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm. Season passes include unlimited admission to all public and adaptive skate sessions.
- Youth (Ages 3-17): Resident^- $70 / Non-Resident- $100
- Adult (Ages 18-61): Resident^- $80 / Non-Resident- $110
- Senior (Ages 62 and over): Resident^- $70 / Non-Resident- $100

Rink Rental
The rink is available to rent for both hockey and recreational skate sessions. The cost is $340 per hour. If you are interested in renting the rink, please contact us for more information. Reservations for the 2026-2027 season will begin August 1st.
Skating Lessons
Group skating lessons for ages 3 to 17 are offered at the rink for all ability levels. Our Bethlehem Skating School instructors provide a fun and safe environment while teaching the lifelong skill of skating. Click here to register for lessons.
Stick Time
Stick and puck time sessions will be offered weekly on Tuesdays from 5:45 - 6:45pm beginning Tuesday, November 17th. The sessions are for practicing various hockey skills (shooting, stickhandling, edgework, etc.). All ages and ability levels are welcome, and protective gear is recommended. Pick up games, full ice scrimmages, and organized games are strictly prohibited. Cost per player is $12. Goalies will be admitted free.
Skate Sharpening
Cost- $7.00 (tax included)
Note: Walk in skate sharpening is available during public skate and stick time sessions ONLY (See hours above). Contact the recreation office to make an appointment outside of the public skate hours above.
