Business
and Commercial Recycling
Pennsylvania Act 101 and Bethlehem City Ordinance #3821 require
all businesses and institutions to recycle mixed office paper,
corrugated cardboard, aluminum and leaves. In addition to
the aforementioned, food licensed businesses must also recycle
steel cans, clear glass containers, and colored glass containers.
Businesses must source-separate their materials, store them
separate from garbage in proper containers, and make arrangements
to recycle mixed office paper, corrugated cardboard and leaves
separately. These do not fall under the curbside program.
There are four options for complying with the requirements
for cans and glass:
- Pay the established fee to participate in the City’s
curbside recycling program. This is a bi-weekly pick-up
of recyclables.
- Contract with a hauler to have the materials delivered
to a recycler.
- Sell recyclables directly to a vendor.
- Take separated recyclables to the Theis/Cornfeld Recycling
Center and sign in each time you visit.
