Business
and Commercial Recycling
Pennsylvania Act 101 and Bethlehem City Ordinance
#3821 require all businesses and institutions to recycle mixed
office paper, newsprint, magazines/shiny paper, corrugated
cardboard, aluminum and leaves. In addition to the aforementioned,
food licensed businesses must also recycle steel cans, clear
glass containers, colored glass containers, and plastics 1-7
(Except Styrofoam). Businesses must source-separate their
materials, store them separate from garbage in proper containers,
and make arrangements to recycle commingled, mixed office
paper/ corrugated cardboard and leaves separately.
There are three options for complying with the requirements
for cans and glass:
- Contract with a hauler to have the materials delivered
to a recycler.
- Sell recyclables directly to a vendor.
- Take separated recyclables to the Theis/Cornfeld Recycling
Center and sign in each time you visit.
The curbside program is now a Residential program only.
