Welcome
to our Citizens Police Academy here at the Bethlehem
Police Department. This Police Department has a rich
history of cooperation with the community, this academy
being just one example. The Academy consists of 13 weeks
of instruction where you receive training in numerous
police procedures, policies, and general operation of
the various divisions within this organization. It is
hoped it will enrich your understanding of how this,
and most police departments operate. You will also be
informed of your role in helping the police department
and in turn, helping the community. We hope that after
you complete this training, you continue your partnership
with the Bethlehem Police Department and the community.

What is a Citizens Academy?
In a continuing effort to promote positive relations
between the community and the Police Department, the
Bethlehem Police Department is proud to extend to city
residents an invitation to attend the Citizens’
Police Academy. The Police academy is a learning experience
where citizens, like you, learn the inner working of
a city police department. The experience has developed
a closer relationship between the community and the
police department, through mutual understanding and
cooperation. It has proven to be a great tool for the
community to get involved in numerous police related
groups.
