DESCRIPTION OF THE CITY SEAL

The official seal of the City of Bethlehem is a circle, consisting of a rope scroll, in the center of which is located a five-point star.

Within the star is an emblem representing the American eagle from whose head radiates an emblem indicating rays of light. In his left talon are three arrows, symbolic of war, and in his right talons is the olive branch, symbolic of peace. His breastplate is an impress of a keystone.

Between the five points of the star are five emblems, symbolizing Bethlehem’s history and achievements.

The impress of the Cross and Bible typify Religion; the impress of the Greek Lamp of Learning supported by two volumes typifies Education; the lyre is symbolic of Music, for which the community has been renowned; the impress of an athlete hurling a disc represents Athletics; and the impress of an anvil, sledge hammer, and gear wheels, typifies Industry.

The City Flag consists of the City Seal on a brown field.
