MISSION : “To promote timely and effective
immunizations for all Lehigh Valley residents across their
lifespan.”
The Lehigh Valley Immunization Coalition
promotes the importance of immunizations for both children
and adults. The coalition is composed of health care workers,
pharmaceutical representatives, community agencies, business
partners, and parents from the community. Through seminars
and activities around national and local immunization awareness
events, the coalition promotes the importance of the need
for vaccination to prevent disease. Yearly back-to-school
immunization clinics assure that children will be ready
for school with the required immunizations. Advertising
campaigns on LANTA buses provides reminders to parents on
the importance of vaccinating children of all ages. Annual
flu campaigns spread the message of the need for receiving
flu vaccine in high-risk individuals. 2011 will be the coalition’s
3rd annual participation at an Iron Pigs baseball game promoting
National Immunization Month. Any individual or organization
interested in promoting optimum health thru immunization
across the lifespan in the Lehigh Valley is welcome to join
the LVIC. For more information or to become a member call
the Bethlehem Health Bureau at 610-865-7087.
