The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintenance
and construction of the City’s public infrastructure
and direct basic services to Bethlehem city residents.
- Engineering Bureau: Matthew Dorner, Chief
of Engineering 610-865-7051
Provides engineering services to all city departments, reviews
development plans, issues permits for all activities in
or affecting street right of way, and provides oversight
for all activities in right of way.
- Streets Bureau: Robert Kitzhoffer, Superintendent
of Streets 610-865-7065 Responsibilities include but are
not limited to street paving, leaf collection, street sign
repair, pothole repair, and snow removal. Pothole Hotline
- 610-865-7053. Leaf collection begins late October and
continues thru Christmas (December 25th).
- Mechanical Bureau: Thomas Ridgick, Fleet
Manager 610-865-7138 Responsible for maintaining the City’s
fleet including police vehicles, fire equipment, EMS, and
heavy construction equipment.
- Electrical Maintenance: Greg Cryder,
City Electrician 610-865-7108
Responsibilities include but are not limited to street lights,
traffic signal lights, electrical support to special events,
Christmas lighting, Bethlehem Star, safety communication
system maintenance, and electrical support to all public
buildings.
- Traffic Maintenance: Tiffany Geklinsky,
Traffic Coordinator 610-997-7960
Responsibilities include but are not limited to street closings,
line paintings, traffic evaluations, and traffic control
signs.
- Urban Forestry: Cindy Smith, City Forester
- 610-865-7073
Provides permits for tree planting, removing, pruning or
performing tree surgery within the public right-of-ways
(streets). Call for information on recommended trees for
planting in the city and how to maintain them.
