Serentiy Garden
In 1970, The Serenity Garden, just west of the Public Library
(11 W. Church Street), was designed and built by the distinguished
Tondabayashi landscape architect, Yoshinaga Sakon. "Serenity
lies at the heart of every Japanese Garden. As an artistic
expression of the essence of nature, Japanese gardens draw
upon the natural world's tranquil beauty to create an oasis
for meditation. The serenity and peace at the core of this
garden are experienced in the harmony achieved through a balancing
of its many elements."
The tea house was built later in 1970, with the pre-cut wood
that Mr. Sakon sent over. He then came to Bethlehem to help
assemble the tea house.
